The 4×4 steel wheel is the workhorse of the off-road world. While not as pretty or strong as their alloy cousins only being available in a handful of shapes and colours, steel wheels are far more durable, far cheaper and great for off-roading.
Being heavier in construction than alloy, steel wheels are far less likely to crack or break and more likely to bend instead. This is a great boon when off-roading as it is possible to reshape the wheel rather than replacing it in less than ideal circumstances. This low weight also lowers a vehicles centre of gravity, making them more stable on their wheels, another great advantage on uneven terrain.
