Alloy Wheels

Light on their Feet

Alloy wheels were originally developed for the Motorsports world and are made of a mix of different metals, often aluminium and magnesium. These composite materials are tough and light, especially when compared to their bulkier, slightly softer, steel cousins. Though when alloys are pushed over their limits, the damage tends to take the form of a crack or split, which will require the fitting of a completely new wheel. While steels can be bent back into shape the light build of the alloy wheel makes a solo wheel change far more possible, creating a trade off between the ease of replacement and repair.
